He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret Owens; his parents, Ezekiel and Edna Owens Sr.; his siblings, Laura Ann Owens-Lauderdale, Artessa Owens, Congressman Major Owens and Delores "Peaches" Dockery; his son-in-law Hebert Miller; and his stepchildren, Carolyn Jackson Fisk and Lyle Jackson.
He is survived by: his daughter Denise O. Miller of Wisconsin; his siblings, Mack Owens of California, Bobby Owens of Georgia and Edna "Lucy" Owens of Illinois; his stepdaughter Anne B. Jackson of Georgia; his grandchildren, Lauren Bunke (Brian) of Washington, Shannon Gorder (Justin) of Japan, Alexis Jackson of Georgia and Guy Fisk of California; his great grandchildren, Owen and Evan Bunke; his cousins, Kwurly Floyd Tate and Ruby Davis; and also, Inetta F. Rogers, Stout, Long and Dorris.
