He was predeceased by: his wife Sarah Jean Bishop Jauchler; his sister Alida; his brother-in-law Dr. Waldo Treuting; his sister Josephine Jauchler; and his siblings-in-law, Bill Bishop, Charlotte, Dick Puck and Dale Castleman.
He is survived by: his children, Patricia Ann (Garth Garrett), Carolyn Sue (Walter Hall), Gerard William Jr. (Kyle Harned), Jeanne Elizabeth (Greg Pohlman) and John Edward (Liz Mack); and his siblings-in-law, Carolyn Castleman, Garth Bishop (Ellen Gameral), Jean Armstrong (John) and Peyton Bishop. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.
