James Ola Higgins Obituary
James Ola Higgins was born on January 30, 1925 to Rosie Higgins in Forrest City, Arkansas. Upon her passing, he was raised by his grandparents Rafe and Estella Higgins in Starkville, Mississippi.
He accepted Christ at an early age and worshipped at The Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, TN where he was a faithful member of the choir.
Though he only obtained a Third grade education, he was one of the most intelligent men you would ever meet. He was extremely creative and resourceful. He could repair radios and televisions as well as build barrel pit grills from scratch.
He enlisted in the United States Army Air Force in 1943 and proudly served during World War II as a Marksman. He was honorably discharged having received the American Service and World War II Victory Medals.
After leaving the Army Air Force, he worked for General Motors for over 20 years.
James wed Rosa White on November 14, 1953. They resided in Memphis, TN for the remainder of their lives.
James was called home to be with the Lord on December 17, 2020.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Lee Higgins; daughter, Flora Williams; and son, Carl Higgins.
He leaves to cherish his memory, three sons, James E. Higgins, Terry Taalib-Din, Ervin Higgins; one daughter, Patricia Rollins; Nine grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.
