He was predeceased by: his parents, Max B. Reid and Patsy N. Reid; his wife Claire; his siblings, Richard A. Reid and Maxine Reid Rector; and his stepson Clifton "Louie" Bell.
He is survived by: his sibling's children, Steven Reid, Richard Reid, Jr. (Barbara), Rob Rector (Lynn) and Cindy Rector Mullican (Robert); his stepchildren, Clark W. "Rip" Bell III and Claire "Lucy" Butler (Larry); his stepgranddaughter Jennifer Lane Spaulding; and his great-nephews, Matt Mullican (Erin), Brett Rector and Reid Rector.
