She was predeceased by : her mother Loys Daniel; her son Ricky Buchanan; and her grandson Joshua Buchanan. She is survived by : her husband Steve Makris; her children, John Buchanan (Kim) of Bartlett and Nina Makris (Alicia Jackson) of Memphis; her grandchildren, Ashley Shea (James), Shelbi Petersen (Vincent Holmes), Bradley Buchanan, Brianna Buchanan, Beau Buchanan and Mason Jackson; and her great grandchildren, Jaxon Shea, Tatum Holmes and Maddex Brown.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 12th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Memorial Park Funeral Home (5668 Poplar Ave, Memphis, TN 38119). A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 14th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.

Nita was always willing to help those in need, hosting countless benefits for individuals, as well as, raising money every year for the charity that was near and dear to her heart, MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association).
