It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary Susan Dowdy (Memphis, Tennessee), who passed away on October 18, 2025, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the sacred silence of farewell, Mary Susan is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. And as her memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Mary Susan's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Joseph Quarles and Alice Quarles; her husband Larry Dowdy; her children, Michael Dowdy (Jolanta), Angela Ndiaye and Jennifer Dowdy; and her sisters, Catherine Markham and Elaine Knight. She was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
A reception was held on Wednesday, October 29th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the St. Louis Catholic Church (203 S White Station Rd, Memphis, TN 38117).
The family requests that memorials, in lieu of flowers, be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
