He was predeceased by: his wife Avis J. Gatewood; and his daughter Lynn Holcomb. He is survived by: his son Greg Gatewood (Jody) of Atoka, TN; his grandchildren, Lisa Ferri of Memphis and Ross Holcomb of Arlington, TN; his great grandchildren, Ashley Holcomb, Nicholas and Katherine Ferri; and his great great grandchild Kade Sparks.
