He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Russell Horner Patterson, Jr. and Rebecca McRee Patterson; his daughter Sarah Patterson French; and his child-in-law Reid French. He is survived by: his wife Sandy Patterson; his daughters, Katherine Patterson Gieselmann, Mary Russell Patterson Tully and Mary Alex Wilson Heffner; and his siblings, Bill McRee Patterson, Sallie Patterson Harris and Carolyn Patterson Bradshaw. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
