She was predeceased by: her parents, James H. Penland and Mae Bell Penland; her brother James D. "Jim" Penland; and her brother-in-law Charles "Wayne" Wallen. She is survived by: her husband Christopher Sawyer; her sister Brenda K. Wallen; her sister-in-law Beverly Penland; her sibling's children, Troy Wallen, Larissa Spoone (Shawn) and Jason Wallen (Kristine); Daniel Wallen, Hannah (Lucas), Lealia Wilcox, Sawyer, Parker Spoone, Kaylee and Jocelyn Wallen.
Visitation was held on Thursday, March 5th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Morningside Baptist Church (2202 Chestnut Ave, Morristown, TN 37814). A funeral service was held on Thursday, March 5th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A reception will be held on Friday, March 6th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Witt Baptist Church Cemetery.
