He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Harrison Prater, Sr. and Jimmie Blanton Prater; his siblings, J. C. Prater, B. H. Prater, Jr., Edmond Prater, Nora Prater St. John and Lola Prater Ramey; and his half-brothers, Haskell Prater and Truman Prater.
He is survived by: his wife Grace Witty Prater; his children, Greg Prater (Isabel) and Jennifer Prater King (Brian); his grandchildren, Natalie Bell (Shaun), Chase Prater (Tira) and Tanner King; and his great grandchildren, Lincoln and Story Bell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
