He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Grace Avanelle Fite and Charles Hinton Smotherman; his spouse Ona Mai Tomlinson; his daughters, Pamela Smotherman Kennedy (Gibert, Melanie Smotherman) and Suzanne Smothermen; his grandchildren, Grace Kennedy (Baldvin Einarsson, Gibert), Jim McHugh and Morgan McHugh Hilk (Matt); his great grandchild Lilja Kennedy; and his cousins, Nicholas Zumbro and Don Fite (Judy).
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund.
