He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Sterling and James Sterling. He is survived by: his wife Tami Sterling; his sons, Christopher Sterling (Gracie) and Jordan Sterling; his siblings, Jimmy Sterling (Ann), Susan Sterling and Sally Sutton (Dennis); his brother-in-law Tommy Waggoner (Steven); and his pets, Zoey, Pesto and Koto.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church (Murfreesboro, TN) or Alive Hospice.
