He was predeceased by: his father Vernon E. Grimes, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Evelyn V. Rencher Mayhall; his mother Elsie L. Plaxico Grimes; his daughters, Virginia Lee Mayhall-Mimms (Eric) and Leslie M. Gove (Michael); his grandchildren, Madelyn Gove and Greyson Gove; and his brothers, Vernon E. Grimes, Jr. and James W. Grimes (Laurie).
