He was predeceased by: his parents, Jim Hitt and Josephine Meredith Hitt; his wife Margaret Jane Hitt; his siblings, Jim, Robert, Ralph Hitt, Margaret Hitt, Josephine Bethel, Virginia Patterson and Katherine Slaughter; his niece Ginny Bethel Smrtic; and his nephews, Jim Hitt, Dick Slaughter and Ralph Patterson.
He is survived by: his stepdaughter Donna Newton of Woodbury; and his nieces and nephews, Ann Brooks, Margaret L. Thompson, Frances Bethel, Kathy Bethel Wilson, Drew Hitt and John Patterson.
