It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Norman Ross McDowell (Murfreesboro, Tennessee), born in Bridgeport, Alabama, who passed away on December 20, 2018, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas McDowell and Bertha Atkins McDowell; his wife Helen Lee McDowell; his son James Thomas McDowell; his siblings, Clara McDowell Searcy (Frank), Thomas William McDowell (Eloise), Lawrence Calvin McDowell (Elaine), Gearl Bruce McDowell (Helen), Glen Hubert McDowell and John Cornelius McDowell; his siblings-in-law, Daniel Ellis Case, Robert Melvin Haley, Jo McDowell, Dorothy, James Wilson and Polly; and his grandsons, John Andrew Hooper and Robert James Hooper.
He is survived by: his daughters, Robbie McDowell Hooper (Tom) of Murfreesboro, TN and Jane McDowell Snipes (Brad) of Rocky Face, GA; his grandchildren, Thomas Ross Hooper (Stephanie Feingold) of Jersey City, NJ, Matthew Ward Hooper (Fahimeh Fagani) of Boca Raton, FL, Michael Lee Hooper (Caroline) of Lascassas, TN, William Bradley Snipes, Jr (Katie) of Nashville, TN, James Tucker Snipes and Mary Margaret Snipes; his siblings, Frances McDowell Haley of Marietta, GA, Carolyn McDowell Case of South Pittsburg, TN and Carl McDowell of Bridgeport, AL; his sisters-in-law, Frances Lee and Mary Jim McDowell; and his child Jim. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and treasured friends.
