She was predeceased by: her parents, Omar Elders and Beatrice Elders Campbell; her husband John David Murphy; and her siblings, Shelby Hilliard, Polly Miller and Robert Elders.
She is survived by: her children, James David Murphy of Murfreesboro and Carolyn Jean Murphy of Murfreesboro; and her sister Naomie Cohen of Illinois. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
