He was predeceased by: his parents, Gus Clayton and Alta Harvey Tarpley; and his siblings, Willie B., Charlie, Bob, Webster and Lena Mae.
He is survived by: his spouse Martha Ann Tarpley; his son John (Laura); his grandchildren, Kendall Hildebrand (Austen) and Benjamin; and his siblings, Allie Cummings, Belle Cummings and Hubert of Statesville. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
