He is survived by: his wife Rachel Mears Merritt; his children, Raymond Merritt (Sherry) of Murfreesboro, Michael Merritt of Carlsbad, CA, Rhonda Mavis (John) of Racine, WI, Iva Merritt of Louisville, KY and Veronica Merritt (Joe) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; and his brother Claude Merritt. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
