He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Joiner and Merle Phillips Joiner; his former wife Geraldine Fisher Joiner; and his brother C. W. Joiner. He is survived by: his wife Lois Aaron Cates Joiner; his children, Michael Joiner (Sherri) and Lisa Adams (Woody); his stepchildren, Sande Roberson (Garth), Steve Douglas (Sandie) and Beverly Bullard (Randy); his sister Alice Workman (Kent); his grandson Shane Adams (Jordyn); and his great grandchild Layla. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Joiner wrote a book on backyard vegetable growing and during the pandemic took online college courses to pass the time.
