He was predeceased by: his parents, Joel Smith and Mabel Ross Smith; his stepson Kirk Boyd; his stepgranddaughter Lauren Eischied; and his siblings, Daniel Smith, Harris Smith, Alvin Smith, Wesley Smith, Milton Smith, Frank Smith, Edith Caylor, Helen Curtis, Dorcas Filyaw, Ruth Zachos and Rachel Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Smith of Murfreesboro; his children, Diana Keele (Troy) of Manchester, Steve Smith of Woodbury, Joann Smith of Murfreesboro and Renee Bowen (Terry) of Murfreesboro; his stepdaughter Kim Wright (Steve) of Murfreesboro; his grandchildren, Nicole Hogg (Jeff) of Christopher Watson, Ala, Banks, Shannon Gilbert (Mark) and Todd Mason (Jessi); his stepgrandchildren, Joseph Boyd, Mary-Evelyn Wright and Erika Boyd; and his sister Dottie Jones (Jim) of Woodbury. He is also survived by 13 Great Grandchildren.
