He was predeceased by: his parents, William Herman Smithson, Sr. and Pauline Victoria Chunn Smithson; and his wife Lenelle Marable Smithson. He is survived by: his son William Kyle Smithson of Murfreesboro; his sister Nell Frances Human of Hermitage, TN; and his nieces, Lisa Human McCormack of Mt. Juliet, TN, Cynthia Human of Old Hickory, TN and Leann Human Hilliard of Knoxville, TN..
