He is survived by: his wife Rosemary Matthews Franz; his children, Lori Guyer (Stephen), Andy Franz and Lisa Plaia; his sister Elizabeth Grant; his grandchildren, Colin, Shannon Guyer, Coltrane, Clayton and Trey Plaia; his stepson Mike Deitschmann (Libby); and his stepgrandchildren, Laurie Bovi (Morgan), Michelle Garner (Jonathan), Eli Deitschmann and Charles Deitschmann (Nicole).
