It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved James Sweet of New Tazewell, Tennessee, who passed away at the age of 88, on October 21, 2025. He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Sweet and Catherine Sweet; his son Larry Joe Sweet; and his siblings, Barbara, Norman, Michael "Hop", Jerry and Larry.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Dean Wells Sweet; his son Gary Sweet (Christine); his grandson Jamey Sweet; his great grandchild James Sweet; and his brothers, Fred Sweet (Carolyn) and Bud Sweet (Joyce). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Coffey Funeral Home (937 S Broad St, New Tazewell, TN 37825). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Coffey Funeral Home Chapel (937 S Broad St, New Tazewell, TN 37825). A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 at the Cox Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Lone Mountain Missionary Baptist Church.
