He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgie Gaines Hewgley and Dow Gaines; his stepfather John Hewgley; his brother Billy Gaines; his son Harold Graden Gaines Jr. (Bucky); and his grandsons, Justin Scott Gaines and Graden Alexander Gaines.
He is survived by: his wife Bettye Gaines; his siblings, Dorothy Weatherford and Bobby Gaines; and his sons, Gregory Scott Gaines (Gina), Jeffrey Allan Gaines, Christopher Randall Gaines (Carol) and Bradford Lee Gaines (Telisha). He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren; and his 14 great-grandchildren.
