He was predeceased by: his parents, Rosco Tharp and Reba Merritt; and his siblings, Ralph Tharp, Swan Tharp, Sammy Merritt, Zola Perry and Susie Kitts.
He is survived by: his nephew Ivan Capps (Marilyn).
