He was predeceased by: his wife Helen Messer; his daughter Tammy Strange (Gene); his grandson Chad Strange; and his father Edgar Messer. He is survived by: his sons, Bobby Messer and Michael Messer; his mother Illa Messer; his grandchildren, Jessica Goins (Ryan), Aimee Messer, Jake Messer and Shelby Messer; his great grandchildren, Bailee, Kylei and Gage; and his siblings, Randy Messer, E. J. Messer, Linda Taylor, Rose White, Jean Sinard and Doris Hall.
