He was predeceased by: his parents, Arlie H. Matthews and Dee Annah Carnes Matthews; his siblings, Jack Matthews, Wendell C. Matthews and Brenda Matthews; his parent-in-law Sam Davis; his siblings-in-law, Gail Matthews, Bobbie Jean Matthews and Ellis Davis; and also Ida Davis.
He is survived by: his wife Mary E. Matthews; his daughters-in-law, Michael Matthews, Stacy Matthews of Morristown, Craig Matthews and Lisa Matthews of Sevierville; his daughter Sandy McCarter of Sevierville; his son-in-law Jeff McCarter of Sevierville; his grandchildren, Yvonne England, Chad England, Ben Duncan, Shaun Matthews and Janie Matthews; his great grandchildren, Colby England, Cade Duncan and Cole Miller; his brothers, Blaine Matthews, Malcom Matthews and Carolyn Matthews; and also, Lois Matthews, Betty Potter, Lynn Potter, John Davis, Betty Davis, Nancy Smith, Joe Smith, Leon Davis, Margaretta Davis, Beverly Trundel and Karen Davis. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, special cousins, and friends.
