It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carolyn Simmons Matusek of Shelbyville, Tennessee, who passed away on July 16, 2025, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ezra Simmons (E. G.) and Pauline "Polly" McNabb Simmons; her aunts, Marie McNabb Hoover, Nannie Brown "Brownie" McNabb and Alberta McNabb Morris; and her uncle Lloyd McNabb.
She is survived by: her husband Tony Matusek; her sons, Mike Matusek (Karisa) of Shelbyville and Chris Matusek of Nolensville; and her grandchildren, Ean, William and Andrew.
Due to Carolyn's passion in fostering and encouraging education of young people, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to either the Greg Garner Scholarship at First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 699, Shelbyville, TN 37162, or the annual scholarship fundraiser through Beta Iota Chapter of Epsilon Sigman Alpha.
