He was predeceased by : his father George Wyatt Shankle. He is survived by : his mother Joan Scott Shankle; his children, Kim Gwaltney (Joseph) of Paris, Ken Rhodes (Kate) of Paris and George Scott Shankle of Paris; his siblings, Beverly Simmons (John) of Columbia, TN and Christopher Lee Shankle (Traci) of Paris; and his grandchildren, Hannah Gwaltney, Garrett Gwaltney, John Michael Rhodes, Landon William Rhodes, Drew Meketi, Trinity Shankle and Macy.
