He was predeceased by: his parents, James Henry and Daisy Walls Simmons; his wife Joyce Simmons; his son Eddie Simmons Jr.; and his brother Charles Simmons.
He is survived by: his children, Sherry Simmons, Carrie Sanders, Anthony Simmons and Denita (Stanley Stinnett); his siblings, Lawrence (Jane Simmons), Carl (Sandy Simmons) and Novella Simmons; and his grandchildren, James Sanders (Melissa), Curtis Sanders (Missy), Stacy Cook (Carlton), Kristina Jenkins (Nathan), Aimee Byrd (Justin), Adrian Stinnett, Andrew Stinnett (Jessica) and Jessi Ellis. He is also survived by loving family members and friends.
