He was predeceased by : his parents, James Marvin "Bill" and Minnie Louise Tomlin Beard; and his daughter Michelle "Missy" Reed (Mary Lou Ratliff). He is survived by : his daughter Kimberly Beard of Nashville, TN; his sisters, Rose McNabb of Thompsons Station, TN, Susan Bruce of Thompsons Station, TN and Kim Mealer (Marvin) of Thompsons Station, TN; his grandchildren, Peyton Holt and Tiffany Stamps; and his great grandchild Sophia Bugg.

Memorials may be made to Thompsons Station Church of Christ.
