He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Charles and Mary Darden Holt of Lynchburg; and his children, Angela Dawn Holt and William Russell "Russ" Holt. He is survived by: his wife Carol Russell Holt; and his sisters, Dorothy Elam, Marilyn Goodrich and Margaret Hall. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, Will had said that he would like donations to be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
