It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Merton Witt of Unionville, Tennessee, who passed away on October 11, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of James Merton Witt to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Witt and Charlotte Dunning Witt; his grandson Barry James David Irvine; and his in-laws, Henry and Leona Hatch.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Witt (Hatch); his siblings, Robert Witt (Deana) of Longs, SC and Kathy King (Ron) of Flora, IL.; his children, Margaret Irvine-Pawola (Christian) of Murfreesboro, TN, Jeffrey Witt (Tammy) of Maryville, TN and Barbara Moore (Tim) of Lawrenceville, GA.; his grandchildren, Jacob Irvine, Joel Irvine, Maddie Pawola-Reed, Christian Pawola, Jr., Bradford Witt (Brianna), Charlotte Trahan (Cullin), Alexandria Flanagan, Corina Flanagan, Alexander Moore (Brenna), Curtis Moore and Nicholas Moore (Mariah); and his great grandchildren, Amelia Moore, Reid Moore, Faith Witt, Cruz Witt and Oliver Witt.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Feldhaus Memorial Chapel (2022 N Main St, Shelbyville, TN 37160). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 15th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Russell Rescue Tennessee or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
