He was predeceased by : his parents, Dick Mercer and Ethel Lee Edwards Mercer; his brother Ferry Ray Palmer; and his children, Rebecca Shaw, Jesse Dewain Mercer and William Lee Mercer.

He is survived by : his children, Jonathan Mercer of Dallas, Ethel Mercer of Taneyville and Deanna Mercer of Dallas. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; and numerous other relatives and friends.
