He was predeceased by: his wives, Wanda Shoemaker and Pamela Shoemaker; his parents, Harold Shoemaker and Leora Shoemaker; his son Larry Dean Shoemaker, Jr.; and his grandsons, Larry Shoemaker III and Jacob Ryan Lenamon.
He is survived by: his sisters, Jeffrey Lenamon of Summit, John Lenamon (LaDonna) of Abilene, Jimmy Lenamon (Debbie) of Round Rock, Karen Hollahan (Richard) of Santa Fe and Sharon Simpson of Fort Worth. He is also survived by one brother; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
