Leila Marie Simmons Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Leila Marie Simmons of Amarillo, Texas, born in Mooreland, Oklahoma, who passed away on May 11, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Oral Day and Doris Day (Powders); her husband John Simmons; her children, Cathy Hendricks, Deanna Shirley and Ricky Sander; her former husband Dwight Sander; and her brother Larry Day.
She is survived by: her daughter Sharon Smith (Larry) of Amarillo; her daughter-in-law Kristi Sander of Amarillo; her stepchildren, Brent Simmons (Lisa) of Washington and Krista Freeman (Harvey) of Wichita Falls, Texas; and her sister-in-law Glenda Roberts. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, many loving great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews.
