He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Zapalac and Leona Zapalac (Prihoda); his wife Joyce Ann Sifford (Sifford); his grandparents, Louis, Mary Prihoda (Dirba), Josef "Joe" and Frances Zapalac (Stastny); his brother Johnnie "Pete" Zapalac; and his grandson Timothy Finn Zapalac.
He is survived by: his son Michael Zapalac; his daughter-in-law Brandi Zapalac; his grandson Briar Zapalac; his siblings, Jim Zapalac and Lillie Hamilton; and his nieces, Lisa Todd (George), Jordan Todd and Jessica Leal.
