Johnny Lamar McKissick Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Johnny Lamar McKissick (Arlington, Texas), born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, who passed away on May 5, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Burleigh McKissick and Pearl McKissick (Jordan); and his sister Betty Buhl. He is survived by: his children, Jason and Holly; his grandchildren, Eden and Ben McKissick-Hawley; his son-in-law Joe Hatley; his sister Carol Gordon; Virginia. He is also survived by extended family, and friends.

Johnny and Virginia were also instrumental in helping to start St. Andrews Christian Church in Arlington, and in the post-Covid years, he was an (almost) every Sunday Zoom-er at Peace Church UCC in Kansas City, Missouri where his daughter, Holly, is founding pastor.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Memorial Fund of First Christian Church, Arlington, or the Migrant Farmworker Assistance Fund (through Peace Church UCC, Kansas City, Missouri).
