Lily Marie Artinger Obituary

Lily M Artinger, 96 of Arlington Texas passed away on December 18th 2021 after a long battle of heart disease and dementia. She was born in Butte, Montana on April 5th, 1925 to Abraham & Mary Johnson. Growing up, she helped on the homestead and managing tenants. During World War II, she became penpals with many soldiers, but the one that captured her heart and she married was Max Artinger. They settled in Pocatello, Idaho where he built the beautiful home they lived in and raised their 2 children. She worked at Chubbuck Elementary School in Pocatello, Idaho as a librarian for 15 years. She was an avid reader & passed down her love of reading to her children and grandchildren. She lost her husband Max in 1991 and missed him dearly. She moved to Arlington, Texas in 1996 to be around her children, their families and grandchildren. She had a glow from within when she spent time with her grandchildren. They were her life and joy.

Lily had a passion for making other people smile through her giving nature. She enjoyed being of service to others, whether she was preparing a meal, paying them a compliment, giving them a gift or just listening to them. She was very physically active. She worked out at TCC through the senior program and quilting at her church, Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church. Lily was strong in her Christian faith besides trying to keep up with her children & grandchildren's events. She loved deeply and gave unselfishly. She always said she was "little but mighty" and she stood by her words. She is survived by her sister Ellenor Vaughan of San Diego, California, two daughters Kathryn Mensah and Cherlyn Finley of Arlington Texas, Granddaughter Nasreen Allen, her husband Ray, & great granddaughter Emerson of San Antonio, Great Grandson Patrick of Arlington, Texas. Her grandson Dezante Finley & his wife Brandy and her great grandson Aiden. Her grandson, Devin Mensah of Oklahoma City, Ok. Her nephew, niece & their children of Butte, Montana & nieces and their children spread out across California among other states. She is preceded in death by her husband Max, two brothers, two sisters, her parents and numerous friends that she dearly missed.

Although she is no longer Physically present, her love will continue to live on in the hearts of all of those who knew her in her life and all of the precious moments that she shared with them.
