It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Marion Patricia VanDevender of Atlanta, Texas, who passed away on July 27, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, E. L. Cumberland and Elva Caron Cumberland; her son Todd Duncan VanDevender; and her great grandchild Liam Wade Hamilton. She is survived by: her husband Gerald VanDevender of Atlanta, Texas; her children, Doug VanDevender (Sarah Jo) of Plain Dealing, Brad VanDevender of Queen City, Texas and Jan Giles of Atlanta, Texas; her sisters, Kaye Johnson (Doug) of Philadelphia and Peggy Nowell (Larry Wayne) of Nanih Waiya, Mississippi; and her grandchildren, Amber Jaynes, Trevor Giles, Miranda Champion, Elizabeth Giles, Meagan Thomas and Tyler VanDevender. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 30th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hanner Funeral Service (103 W Main St, Atlanta, TX 75551). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 31st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church (306 Baker St, Atlanta, TX 75551).
