With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Josephine Elizabeth Brooks of Axtell, Texas, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 18, 2025 at the age of 77. As Josephine departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Josephine. Though Josephine may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter A. Groves and Edna Maxine Kersey Groves. She is survived by: her husband Earl A. Brooks; and her sons, Richard Andrew Brooks (Lisa) of Lewisburg, WV., Geoffrey Brooks of Axtell, TX., Wesley Brooks (Terri) of The Plains, VA. and Stewart Brooks (Julie) of Alexandria, VA.. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 25th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home (175 Mountain Ave, White Sulphur Springs, WV 24986). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 26th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the White Sulphur Springs Chapel (175 Mountain Ave, White Sulphur Springs, WV 24986). A burial will be held on Tuesday, August 26th 2025 at the Greenbrier Memorial Gardens (176 Deerfield Rd, Lewisburg, WV 24901).
