He was predeceased by: his parents, V. E. Whitaker (Pat) and Melba Whitaker; and his siblings, George Whitaker, Woody Whitaker and Audie Lynne Whitaker (Rudy).

He is survived by: his wife Barbara Hanlon; his children, Amy Lynne Terry (Bobby), Matt Whitaker (Candace) and Shannon Whitaker (Amy); his grandchildren, Realyn Meza, Ava Whitaker, Bobby Terry Jr., Gavin Whitaker, Livia Whitaker, Devyn Whitaker, Westin Whitaker, William Whitaker and Callahan Whitaker; and his siblings, Larry Wilkins (Cissy) and Darlene Wilkins. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
