He was predeceased by: his mother Annie Mae Matthews (Mack); his wife Ruby Matthews; his father Samuel Sr. Matthews; his sons, Samuel DeWayne, Kevin Mitchell and Darryl Lynn Matthews; and his grandchildren, DeWayne O'Keith Green and Kendal Lynn Matthews.
He is survived by: his children, Gladys Matthews, Patricia Martin, Lori George, Reginald O'Keith Matthews, Kenneth Vaughn Matthews, Michael Young and Billy Joe Young. He is also survived by Grandchildren: 22, Great-Grandchildren.
