He is survived by: his children, Starr Thurber of Asheville, Russell Suire (Laura) of Spring, Mary Tate (Johnny) of Winnie and Jamie Knox (Zach) of Asheville; his grandchildren, Trey Thurber, Connaught James Thurber, Nicholas Suire, Jillian Suire, Jonathan James Tate, Kira Tate and Margo Carmaleen Knox; his stepgrandchildren, Kellan Morgan, Brett Morgan, Kate Hutchison, Kristi Johnson and Rachael Whynot; his siblings, Janice Boden, David Suire and Dalton Suire; and his girlfriend Violet Arena.
