It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Melvin Ann Newman of Beaumont, Texas, born in Pickens, Arkansas, who passed away on July 22, 2025, at the age of 63, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Earnest Ward and Mollie Ward; her grandparents, Finley Davis, Minnie Gunn Davis, Frank Ward and Louise Gilbert; and her sister Earnestine Ward.
She is survived by: her daughter Angelece Williams of Monticello; her brother Billy Davis of Dumas; and her grandchildren, Ja'Niaya Grandy, Amyra McCree, Camille Newman, Elijah Newman, Olivia Newman and Carma Lambert. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Serenity Gardens Funeral Services (136 St. Hwy 159 N, Dumas, AR 71639). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 at 10:30 PM at the Watson District Headquarter (100 Church Street, Mitchellville, AR 71639). A burial will be held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 at the Curtis Hall Cemetery.
