Marissa R. Cruz Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Marissa Reeann Cruz announces her unexpected passing on Saturday, January 13, 2024, following a tragic automobile accident in Bee County. Marissa was just 16 years old at the time of her untimely death.

Marissa was born October 2, 2007, in San Antonio, Texas to Laura Myers. She was still attending George West High School when tragedy struck.

Her creativity led her to follow her passion in social media as she found joy in making videos on TikTok and sharing them for all to enjoy. At such a young age, being neat and organized also made her happy.

Marissa was preceded in death by her twin sister, Clarissa Cruz, who passed away in 2018; and her boyfriend, Erick, who sadly passed on the same date as Marissa.

Mourning their daughter's passing are her mother, Laura Myers and guardians, Lucas and Amber Cowan; as well as her maternal grandmother, Maria Robles; eight siblings, Shelly, Brittney, Amber, Steven, Nazerath, Corbin, Kinsleigh and Luke; special cousin, Iris; and numerous other relatives and friends. She will also be deeply missed by her fellow classmates, teachers and staff members at GWISD.

Also missing Marissa is her fur baby, Timmy, who was not just a pet but a beloved member of her family. He provided comfort and companionship.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 19, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home in Beeville.

The funeral service will be conducted there at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 20, with Minister Grady Cowan officiating.

Marissa will be laid to rest beside her beloved twin sister, Clarissa, in the First Memorial Park Cemetery in Von Ormy, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Corbin Cowan, Lucas Cowan, Steven Worthey, Nazerath Myers, John Brice and Daniel Sanchez.
