He was predeceased by: his parents, Jess Merrick and Elizabeth Jinkins Merrick; his wife Frankie Singleton Merrick; his brother Tommy Merrick; and his siblings-in-law, Don Dingus, Ben Thigpen and Lois Merrick.
He is survived by: his siblings, Darrell Merrick of Lamesa, Edward Merrick (Oleda) of Ralls, Barbara Thigpen of Houston and Karen Dingus of Lamesa; and his siblings-in-law, Jane Merrick of Lubbock, C. B. Singleton and Lindell Singleton (Nina) of Lamesa. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
