He was predeceased by: his parents, James Henry Buchanan and Jane High Crockett Buchanan; and his wife Phyllis Jean Hurley. He is survived by: his children, James W. Buchanan, Jr. (Jenine) of Gurnee, IL, Laura Hedge (Donald) of Redlands, CA, Erin Willmann (Eric) of Bolingbrook, IL, Annette Stelter (Tim "Big Toe") and Rhonda Sweeney. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
