He was predeceased by: his parents, Maria Ruiz and Jesus Ruiz; his daughter Leticia Ruiz Sotuyo; and his siblings, Johnny Guadalupe Gutierrez, Terry M. Trevino, Rogelio Gutierrez, Elias Ramirez Ruiz and Manuel Ramirez Ruiz.
He is survived by: his wife Berta Echavarria Ruiz; and his children, Johnny Ruiz, Patricia Ruiz Solis and Norma Ruiz Zuniga. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
