It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Timothy Joseph Herrel (Carrollton, Texas), born in Toledo, Ohio, who passed away on January 10, 2021, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. The military honors was held on Wednesday, January 27th 2021 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Dallas Ft Worth National Cemetery (Dallas Texas).
Lt. Col. (Ret. USAF) Timothy Joseph Herrel was born October 10, 1946 in Toledo, Ohio. "The Colonel" completed his mission on January 10, 2021, as he made his final flight to God's Heaven. He was a proud military pilot of C130's, 141's, and B-52's flying embassy runs and relief missions all over the world. He served in Vietnam, Panama, Granada, Desert Storm, and retired from Andrews AFB as Commander of the 459th Squadron.
He devoted almost 34 years serving his country and helping his brother Veterans in all ways possible from acquiring benefits to attending the funerals of the Homeless . He was a Lifetime Member of AMVETS and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion post 587 of Carrollton and Carrollton VFW Post 8923 where he served as Commander for many years. He, along with his best friend, and "Breakfast Buddy", Ron Branson, was instrumental in creating the Carrollton Veterans Memorial in Carrollton; a vision and dream he had since moving to Carrollton. He was an Alumni of the Carrollton Citizen Volunteer Fire Academy Class #3. He along with his wife, taught CPR to middle and high school students in CFBISD, and was Santa for the Carrollton Police Department's Blue Santa Program for many years. He was deeply involved in his community for his 25 years in Carrollton which he called home after traveling the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Jean Herrel.

He was adored by his Legacy who called him "Poppie" Savannah, Sierra, Jackson, and Cayman Casey; Tanner and Dylan Easton; Masyn and Tyler Byrd; Lane and Easton Taylor; Jace and Tennyson Braddock; Caressa Easton and Sebastian Jaco.
The Family is grateful for the many, many prayer warriors for their support . There are no words to thank Dr. Taylor Long along with the nurses and staff of Plano Texas Health. We could not have asked for better compassionate , professional care for him than you gave while we could not be there with him because of the new world we are living in. Dr Gary Weinstein you are a true "gift" to our family, and thank you for your support and guidance through this journey.
